A DOUBLE tradition has been upheld by youngsters at a Sharples school.

As well as celebrating their annual Harvest Festival, pupils at High Lawn Primary School have once again supported a Bolton homeless charity.

A special assembly was held to mark the occasion with a talk by David Bagley of the charity Urban Outreach, along with songs and readings.

The school is a long-term supporter of the charity and all items donated by the kindhearted children will go to the town’s homeless community.

Children brought in dozens of items to donate.

Headteacher David Lane, said: "In addition to appreciating harvest, the event raises awareness in the children about the importance of helping those less fortunate than themselves."

He added: "Yet again, I’ve been very impressed by the generosity of the children and their families and I would like to thank them for their thoughtfulness."
