SUCCESSFUL: Kort Egan SUCCESSFUL: Kort Egan

TEENAGER Kort Egan has received an offer to study at one of the world’s top universities.

Kort, aged 17, of Avonhead Close, Horwich, has been offered a place to read theology and religious studies at Gonville and Caius College at Cambridge — fulfilling an ambition he has had since starting school.

Kort attends Manchester Grammar School and was a pupil at Clevelands Preparatory School in Heaton.

As well studying hard, Kort is also a member of the school community action team. This year the team is co-ordinating more than 100 volunteers to work in primary schools to listen to the children, as well as reading and working with youngsters.

He said: “I have wanted to go to Cambridge from a young age and never thought that seven years later I would have a place.”

Kort added: “The voluntary work did give me an advantage because I could explain how I had worked with others.”

After graduating from Cambridge University, Kort hopes to go on to Harvard to study for his doctorate. The teenager was one of 35 successful Oxbridge applicants from the school.
