YOUNG entrepreneurs have been named runners-up in a national competition to find the country’s brightest young businessmen and women.
Bolton School sixth-formers Alistair Charleston, aged 16, Nathan Johnson, aged 16 and Henry Wakerley, aged 17 came second in the Years 12 – 13 Category of Step into Business.
Step into Business by the b-live Foundation and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales placed the students in the position of would-be investors.
Teams were shown three new product ideas and given an imaginary £50,000 to invest in the one they considered most likely to succeed.
They were asked to analyse each of the products’ financial viability and marketability, which developed their key business studies and curriculum skills including numeracy, literacy, teamwork, decision making and leadership.
Bolton School is sponsoring the Young Entrepreneur award at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards in June.
