STARS of the future will take to the stage for a feelgood musical extravaganza.

Students from Dawson's Academy of Dance & Stage will perform songs and highlights from shows including Matilda and Bugsy Malone in Born to Perform.

It will be at the Albert Halls, at 7pm on Monday and Tuesday, starring 160 youngsters who attend the academy on Great Moor Street.

The three to 16-year-olds will showcase 24 numbers including Muppet Show Madness, Matrix Revolution and The Great Gatsby, with a jungle theme running throughout.

The event will raise money for the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Colin Shaw’s chosen charities — Bolton Hospice, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Bolton Society for Blind People and Fortalice.

Dawn Dawson, who danced professionally before realising her passion for teaching, said: “The more money we can raise for the mayor’s charities, the better.

“It should be a great atmosphere, it’ll be a feelgood show.

“That’s the main thing, people will go away feeling happy. The kids are so excited.

“They’re all buzzing at the moment. It’s a lot of work, we have a lot of volunteers who help.”

The show will also feature youngsters who took part in CBBC’s Sport Relief Does Glee Club last month and the finale will see a 60-strong choir perform Sing — written by Gary Barlow and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 — with Bolton Caledonia Pipe Band.

The annual showcase promises to be an Easter treat for all the family, also featuring Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Jungle Book, Tickets are still available for Born to Perform and cost £10, ring the Albert Halls box office on 01204 334400.
