AMIR Khan, Danny Jones, Kevin Davies and a host of Bolton Wanderers first team players are the latest local stars to take part in the ice bucket challenge.

The boxer, singer and former Bolton Wanderers footballer join a long line of celebrities who have uploaded videos to Twitter and Facebook of themselves being soaked with a bucket of ice cold water.

Boxer Amir, aged 27, took on his challenge whilst sat on a deck chair on a Miami beach.

He nominated his brother Haroon, his uncle Taz and his friend Saj.

He tweeted: “On holiday in Miami, I accept all your challenges.”

McFly’s Danny, who recently wed model Georgia Horsley, got three nominations — including one from bandmate Tom Fletcher and his wife, Giovanna.

The good-humoured musician withstood his new bride throwing four buckets of water over him — but later got his own back when she did her own challenge.

Former Whites striker Kevin was soaked by his wife Emma and a friend in their Bolton garden — but not before giving out his list of nominations, which included Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside.

Kevin was not the only footballer to take up the challenge — current and former Wanderers players took on the challenge after the first team squad was nominated by Paddy McGuinness.

Jermaine Beckford, Sanmi Odelusi, Neil Danns, Andy Hughes, Robert Hall, Matt Mills, Joe Riley, Marcos Alonso, Marvin Sordell, Jay Spearing and Ivan Klasnic uploaded their videos over the weekend.
