A BOLTON theatre was alive with the Sound of Music as fans of the film threw themselves into a fundraising event.
Bolton Little Theatre (BLT) held the Singalong Sound of Music night to raise money for its Next Generation Building Appeal.
Visitors got into the spirit of the mult-Oscar-winning 1965 film, which starred Julie Andrews, by dressing up as characters and flexing their vocal chords to the likes of Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi and title track The Sound Of Music.
Elizabeth Tatman, BLT chairman, said: “I’ve never seen so many nuns of all sizes, shapes and descriptions.
“Everybody seemed to enjoy it.
“It went very well and we made quite a bit of money.
“It brought a lot of people into the theatre who don’t usually come.
“It’s something that we might repeat in the future.”
The event was organised by David Smart to raise money for the theatre group to buy the Hanover Street building, which it currently leases. It is hoped the £90,000 appeal will reach its target by Christmas.
