A TOUCH of Scotland came to Bolton when a pipe band arrived in town.

Talented musicians from Bolton Caledonia Pipe Band put on a rip-roaring show in Victoria Square yesterday, entertaining hundreds of shoppers.

Twenty musicians performed and, according to the band's pipe sergeant Steve Drever, the crowds loved it.

"We got some fantastic feedback from people who had stopped to listen to our music, which was nice for all the players," said Mr Drever.

"We play in the town centre for Bolton Council once a year and it is always nice for us to play in Victoria Square, though it was a wee bit cold."

If you are a piper or a drummer and want to find out more about joining the band, or learn how to play an instrument, you can go along to practise sessions at Bolton Ukranian Club in Castle Street, The Haulgh, on Mondays from 7.30pm.
