PEOPLE will be able to take to the skies when a giant 100 ft ferris wheel opens in the town centre tomorrow.

Council contractors have been busy erecting the enormous structure in Victoria Square that will offer visitors the chance to take in views across the borough during the festive season.

The wheel is the final piece of Bolton’s Winter Wonderland extravaganza to be opened, following the launch of attractions including a 255 sq m ice rink and a santas grotto, which are both in place in Victoria Square.

Festive fun-seekers are also able to slide into the Christmas period by having a go on a giant, fifty metre snow slide which is currently in prime position in Newport Street.

Brave construction workers attached themselves to the giant wheel using ropes while putting it together — much to the amazement of shoppers making their way through the square.

The wheel will open tomorrow and tickets are priced at £4 for adults, with under 16s charged £3 and senior citizens and students will be asked to pay £3.50.

Family tickets, priced at £8 will cover two adults and two children or one adult and three children.

People wishing to have a go on any of the Winter Wonderland attractions can take advantage of free parking in the town centre, which is in operation on weekdays after 3pm at Deane Road, Topp Way and the Octagon multi-storey car parks until Friday, January 9, 2014. Free parking is also available all day Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays.
