DEBBIE Halls-Evans is teaming up with another TV chef for her latest culinary venture.

The winner of Channel 4's The Taste is proving that she is far from slowing down as she approaches 12 months since she appeared on the show, presented by Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Anthony Bourdain.

The mum, who lives in Blackrod, is joining forces with Jackie Kearney, a Masterchef finalist in 2011, and owner chef of The Hungry Gecko, for a Banana Leaf Banquet Charity Dinner in aid of Bombay Teen Challenge, Jubilee Campaign and Reclaim.

The chefs, who met at Bolton Food and Drink Festival last year, will also be joined by award-winning ice cream creator Claire Kelsey, who runs Ginger's Comfort Emporium in Manchester's Northern Quarter, who will be creating the desert.

Debbie said: "I'm so excited to be working with Jackie. She does a lot of street food style cuisine so it's right up my street.

"I met her in Bolton at the food and drink festival last year and we said straight away we should do something together.

"We decided we wanted to do it as a charity event because then we would be able to directly give back to some very worthwhile causes."

Guests to the event, at The Beagle in Chorlton on Monday March 2, can enjoy cauliflower cheeky chai cup, a banana leaf banquet featuring six dishes served with rice, tempered naan and pickles, and Ginger's Comfort 'Eccles to India' inspired dessert.
