PHOENIX Nights fans have been given a glimpse of how Peter Kay's sidekick Paddy McGuinness could look when the live version of the hit comedy launches this weekend.

Paddy tweeted a picture of himself getting fitted with a wig for the show adding: "Just off to get my new hair fitted for Phoenix Nights live. Think they've got mine mixed up with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's."

Comedy fans jammed ticketing websites last year snapping up thousands of tickets to see the comedy TV hit live at Manchester Arena.

Organisers were so stunned by the demand they announced a total of 15 dates for the show — after originally only planning two nights in Manchester.

More than 120,000 tickets were sold for the shows in just three hours, with all profits going to Comic Relief.

It is the first time that the full original cast from the award winning comedy have reunited since the critically-acclaimed show finished after two series, 12 years ago.

The show followed the rise and fall of wheelchair-bound scheming club impresario Brian Potter, played by Peter, and his band of loyal staff and regulars who will do just about anything to make his beloved Phoenix club a success, despite the odds being stacked against them.

Phoenix Nights was first aired on Channel 4 in 2001.

Peter Kay and the full original cast of the award-winning Channel 4 comedy series, including Paddy McGuinness and Dave Spikey, are giving all their time for free on the project.
