Every year on March 17, the Irish and Irish-at-heart across the globe take part in St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Why not hit Bolton town centre this evening and raise a glass of the black stuff to one of the world's most popular saints?

1. Join the crowds at Bolton Irish Centre, Lever Street, to celebrate St Patrick - one of Ireland's patron saints.

From 5pm, there will be entertainment from Sean McSherry – known for his Irish disco, as well as Gaelic games and singer Sally Glennon performing from about 8.30pm.

2. Get down to the sounds of The Jonny Cooper Experience at The Venue, Churchgate.

The band promises to make St Patrick’s night one to remember as revellers quench their thirst with Guinness, Guinness and more Guinness – as well as Guinness-style cocktails.

3. Prepare to get raucous at a Bolton town centre club.

Blind Tiger, Nelson Square, will host a St Patrick’s Day special of regular club night Rawkus. There will be rock, punk and alternative music with an Irish twist throughout the night.

4. Celebrate St Patrick’s Day at Ye Olde Man and Scythe, Churchgate.

Buy a pint of Guinness and shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey together for £5.50 and receive a Guinness hat and Jameson barrel shot glass.

5. Carry your St Patrick’s Day celebrations on into Wednesday night.

J2, Nelson Square, will host Paddy’s Party tomorrow night serving green shots and drinks.
