A BOLTON joiner who spends an hour doing his hair and says taking girls on dates is a waste of money is hoping to find love on a television show.

Joshua Ritchie, aged 21, is one of 12 contestants looking for a summer of romance in Majorca on ITV2's Love Island.

The revamped show, hosted by Caroline Flack, starts on Sunday night and the last remaining couple in six weeks will leave the island with a prize of £50,000.

The glamorous members of the public will live like celebrities in a luxury villa, with viewers privy to all the fun and flirtation that unfolds.

Joshua said: "I liked the idea of getting some sunshine. I want to win and use the money to start up a property development company. And I like pulling birds.

"People say I'm good looking. That's why I pull quite a few girls. I've got decent eyes. I take the longest out of all my mates to get ready to go out.

"I probably spend an hour doing my hair and choosing an outfit. And I'll go on a sunbed and to the gym during the day, and get my eyebrows threaded."

In order to remain in their love and lust fuelled paradise, the singles will also have to win the hearts of the public who will have the power to determine who stays and who goes.

Speaking of what he looks for in a girl, Joshua said: "It depends — when I've had a drink or when I'm sober?

"When I'm drunk, anyone after 2am!

"When I'm sober, obviously they've got to be slim, not big. Tanned. With a decent chest. I don't mind if the boobs are fake or real, I'm not fussed."

And what turns him off?

He said: "Girls who act like boys. Girls who drink beer. I’m bad enough on beer. Girls who think they're proper fit, but they're actually not."

If one of the six girls on the show does fall for him, she should not expect to be taken out for a date anytime soon.

He said: "I don't take girls on dates, it's a waste of money.

"I've been on a couple of dates but they weren't bad experiences.

"I've not done too bad with girls in my life. My longest relationship has been about six months. She was a nightmare.

"She was in London and I was up here and she'd phone up and get me to FaceTime every night.

"She didn't want me to have a social life. I'm not a guy to stick to plans. If we were meant to be FaceTiming then the boys wanted to take me out, I'd go out with them and sack her off."

Love Island is on ITV2 at 9pm on Sunday.
