A HOST of well known faces will be at the Octagon Theatre tomorrow to discuss and celebrate the life of playwright Arthur Miller.

The event will feature one-off performances from former Coronation Street star Vicky Binns and former Brookside favourite John McArdle who will join a number of theatre regulars and stars of Miller's classic adaption of Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People.

These include David Birrell, John Branwell, Colin Connor, Barbara Drennan, Rob Edwards, Harry Long, Marc Small, David Nabil Stuart and Anna Wheatley.

The event has been organised by Prof David Thacker, who returned to the theatre to direct the play, which ends tonight.

He will be joined by the world's leading Arthur Miller scholar Prof Christopher Bigsby – director or the Arthur Miller Centre at the University of East Anglia – who knew Arthur Miller well and wrote the critically acclaimed two-part biography: Arthur Miller.

The pair will work through several Miller plays with professional actors, Dr Rodreguez King-Dorset from the University of Bolton will present his lecture When Miller Met Mandela: The Last Good Me, and octagon Artistic Director Elizabeth Newman will conduct an In Conversation session with Mr Thacker.

Mr Thacker said: "Tomorrow's investigation into Arthur Miller will be unmissable for any Arthur Miller enthusiast, or for anyone who is just interested in seeing what happens behind-the-scenes in the rehearsal room.

"The chance to see 26 actors working on his plays and listen to the experiences of the scholar and director who worked most closely with Arthur Miller is an opportunity that Bolton people will never have again."

The event will form part of this year's centenary celebrations, marking the anniversary of Arthur Miller's birth on October 17, 1915.

It will take place at the theatre's main auditorium on Saturday from 10.30am until 5.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 for the full day, or £5 for students in full-time education. Call the box office on 01204 520661.
