A MUSIC lover who has travelled all over the country to see his favourite singers didn’t have to travel far this time when one of his idols played a gig — in his living room.

Heaton's Mitch Mitchell, aged 20, messaged American singer-songwriter Ryan Hamilton, after he offered to play an intimate gig at a fan’s house right before his UK tour, along with 30 others who bought exclusive tickets.

Mr Mitchell first met idol when he saw him at Manchester Academy as part of People On Vacation — the band Hamilton formed with former Bowling For Soup frontman, Jaret Reddick.

The former Bolton School student who has been an avid fan of Ryan’s music for years, was thrilled when his invite was accepted.

Mr Mitchell said: “I still can’t believe it actually happened. The 30 exclusive tickets sold really well and people from all over the UK came to see him play in my mum’s living room.

“When I first started listening to Ryan's music, there is no way I could ever have imagined that not only would I meet him, but he’d also be playing in my living room a few years later.”

Following the release of his critically acclaimed solo album, Hell of a Day, Ryan wanted to use an intimate living room gig as a pre-tour warm up and claims this isn’t the first time he’s done this.

He said: “I didn’t want to play in empty bars and have to convince people to listen to me, because that’s the worst — but at a living room gig, it’s not like that.

“You’re literally sitting in a living room with people all around you. It makes for a really memorable night and some of my all-time favourite memories are from those gigs.”

Ryan Hamilton will be playing at Manchester’s Sound Control on Sunday, March 7.
