HE may be on his way to music stardom but Bolton barman Christian Burrows has always got his old job to fall back on.

The teenager is currently wowing judges and audiences on the X-Factor and says his life "changed over night" since his first emotional audition.

Since the audition 19-year-old Christian, who was taught to sing by his mother, has received support from around the globe as well as his home town and the Level nightclub, where he worked as a barman.

"Level has been excellent and has given me all the time off I need and said that if I wanted to come back to my job it would be open for me," said Christian.

Co-owner of Level, Sam Zegrour, said: "Obviously we are really excited for him and we want to give him as much support as possible.

"We have given him all the time off he needs.

"The best situation is that hopefully he won’t want to come back to work because he has done so well in the show.

"But if he doesn’t and he ever wants to come back he can.

"He is a genuinely lovely lad and we hope he does really really well."

Former Thornleigh Salesian College pupil Christian has already impressed the X-Factor judges with a song he penned himself —Thunder Buddy— in tribute to his two-month-old brother who died of cot death.

Speaking to The Bolton News, Christian revealed he wrote the song to express his emotions.

He said: "You have to learn to live with it and I don’t look at it in terms of what I have lost, but what could have been.

"The intimacy and vulnerability of that first audition, I don’t think I will ever be able to relive that."

Tonight Christian will be seen singing at his mentor, Nicole Sherzinger's home to battle it out for a place in the live shows — a far cry from the days of singing in the shower.

He added: "Everything has just exploded since my first audition and my life changed over night.

"The six chair challenge and singing in front of a crowd at Wembley just made me want to get on stage every night.

"But the judges' houses was a lot more nerve wracking that I thought it would be.

"I found it harder than standing up on stage because of the intimacy of it all.

"When you're on stage you sort of get the adrenaline from the crowd, but at the judges houses it is just you singing.

"Performing live doesn't scare me at all, I am really excited for the chance to do it.

"It would be a dream come true to be performing on stage every week and every night — that’s what I want to be doing.

"The fact that Nicole has my life and my future in her hands is very nerve wracking."

Christian, who has five younger siblings, has been tipped in the media as one of the favourites, which he says does add "extra pressure".

He said: "Reading things like that does give me a smile on my face and make me feel that the hard work I am putting in is being appreciated.

"And it is a confidence boost, it is really nice, but I do feel under extra pressure because everyone is rooting for me.

"I just want to make everyone proud and make music for people to listen to.

"No matter what happens, I will always go back to my guitar and sing acoustically because that is just me."

The X-Factor continues on ITV tonight at 8.15pm and tomorrow from 8pm.
