HUNDREDS of film fans have flocked to Crompton Place for the return of a pop-up cinema.

The shopping centre is putting on free screenings of its favourite family flicks every Wednesday this summer in the former Clarks unit.

Still to come before the end of the month are Beauty and the Beast, Sing, Smurfs: The Lost Village, and more.

The Endeavour Project, a domestic violence charity, is also running a tuck shop at the cinema which raised £98 on its opening day.

Paula Wood, centre manager at Crompton Place, said she was pleased to bring the cinema back for part two following its introduction earlier this year.

She said: “We’re very happy that we’re offering another activity for keeping the children entertained over the six-week break.

“A trip to the pictures always feels like a special treat and it’s a great way for families to relax and have a great time together.

"What makes it even sweeter is that it’s free so our visitors can return as many times as they wish.”

Yesterday, the centre hosted an autism-friendly screening of The Boss Baby with the support of Breaking Barriers, a charity which supports disabled children and young people.

The Family Flicks pop-up cinema at Crompton Place will be open every Wednesday until August 30. There will be two showings a day at 11am and 2.30pm.
