A CAST of talented stage actors, singers, designers and even a television star are helping make The Dream a reality in Bolton.

For more than a year, Harwood actress Liz Hulme-Dawson has been working on a show of her dreams.

The Dream is a unique adaption of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Mixing pop, Bollywood and musical theatre with tales of loves lost and gained, it will finally be making it to the stage in Egerton next month.

The show follows Shakespeare’s classic story featuring the famous fairies, their king and queen, Bottom and the workers, as well as the bewitched suitors.

Liz, who has starred in the 4 0’Clock Club, Bodies and Sunny D, started work on the show more than a year ago and it has now become a full-blown BCMCS production.

She said: “I have adapted it and turned it into a musical. After going through nine or 10 different versions I can’t believe it’s actually happening!

“Shakespeare’s stories still hold up so well and there have been many different adaptations of his work, you can just have a bit of fun.

“I have toned down the language and obviously it’s not as long but it still has all the elements of the original.

“It is about love gone wrong and coming back again.”

Liz is directing the production for the drama society featuring a cast of young adult actors alongside choreographer Kat Farrington and musical director Nicola Worrall.

The cast have had to learn songs from across the eras, including classics like Nina Simone’s I’m Feeling Good and I’ve Put a Spell on you to music by the Black Eyed Peas.

Liz has also called upon the help of her fellow actor and Dinner Ladies star Shobna Gulati.

The ex-Coronation Street actress stepped into the studio to put the cast through their Bollywood paces.

Liz added: “I was talking to my friend Shobna and discussed coming into help with adding a flavour of Indian movement and she ended up doing a full workshop. It was very kind of her and she is coming to watch it too.

“I might be hiding under my seat on the first night. I will see what people think but hopefully they will like it!”
