MUSIC-LOVERS are spoilt for choice this weekend as a double bill of entertainment comes to the town.

Bolton Symphony Orchestra is promising a stunning show with an ‘extremely family friendly programme’ at the Victoria Hall this Saturday night.

And the orchestra’s Andrew Morley is urging people to come along and enjoy the dramatic performance from 7.30pm

He said: “This promises to be a spectacular concert, with lots of extra percussion, including a very talented drummer on a full drum kit, and children from local primary schools forming the Gingerbread Chorus, in Hansel and Gretel.

This concert will be very engaging for all of the family, with some audience participation, especially for the younger members of the audience. It will make an ideal introduction to the power and might of a full symphony orchestra, so please do make a point of coming to what promises to be a spectacular experience.”

And there is also another feast of entertainment taking place on the same night just yards away. Bolton Albert Hall hosts The the Mayor’s Gala Concert will include performances by Eagley Band, Smithills Community Band and Smithills Community Choir, featuring conductor Chris Wormald and pianist Robert Aston.

The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Roger Hayes, said: “I am looking forward to my gala concert and I am sure that it will be a very special evening. Not only will the concert showcase talented local musicians, it will also raise money for the three very worthwhile causes which I have been supporting during my year in office."

Tickets for The Mayor's Gala Concert are priced at £6 (£5 concessions).

They are only available from Booth's Music, Smithills School or via egertontickets.com

There will be a small number tickets available on the door on Saturday night, at the same price.
