A CHOIR is on the lookout for new members to join its inspirational group for cancer patients and survivors.

Bolton Cancer Voices, which was established in 2012, will accept anyone who has received a diagnosis of cancer at any time in their lives.

The group currently consists of about 40 singers who enjoy a programme of performances and activities.

Karen Elliott, chairman of Bolton Cancer Voices, said: "We’d love to recruit more members and are especially short of sopranos and men; though all will be made most welcome.

"It’s a very exciting year for us and we would like to share this with as many people as possible.

"There is increasing research which evidences the many health benefits to singing, particularly within the social environment of a choir.

"Singing is so uplifting and a great way to tune out of life’s pressures. I’d encourage everyone to give it a try and see for themselves."

The choir is currently rehearsing for its participation in the Festival Of Brass and Voices at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which will be held in November.

Membership is free, no previous choral experience is required. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, 7-30pm – 9pm.

Anyone interest should contact Mrs Elliot on 01204 595562 or 07773 164235.
