THE hunt for Mr and Miss Bolton is bringing top bodybuilders from all over the country to the town this month.

The competition is being held at the 3D Centre in Bella Street, Deane, on Saturday, April 28 from 1.15pm. This is the event’s eighth year but the first for new organisers Ronnie and Suzy Orr.

Ronnie is a well-known bodybuilder who has been competing since 2010. He is a former Mr Britain, UKFF British finalist in the over 50s category and winner of several regional competitions. Suzy is the founder of the Unique Ladies networking group which has a successful Bolton group.

The competition is affiliated to industry body the International Bodybuilding & Fitness Association (IBFA) and is one of the top regional qualifiers. This means that the top three in each of the 16 classes gain an automatic invitation to the British finals in Gateshead in June.

There are cash prizes totalling more than £2,000 for the class winners plus the two overall winners of the men’s and ladies’ categories. The judging panel boasts famous names in the field including over 50s NABBA Universe winner Paul Sutton from Bolton and sponsored CNP professional athlete Matt Bowd.

Sponsors include Bolton’s 80/20 Health Bar and Kitchen, Pose Apparel, NAPA sports nutrition and Frameline and H & J Glass. Former Mr Universe Billy Jones has also sponsored the trophies and will present a class at the event.

Commented Mr Orr: “We’ve been really pleased to have the chance to run such a prestigious competition and are delighted with the response. There are more than 70 competitors already registered from around the UK and the event promises to be something special.”

There will also be stallholders at the event selling food and drink as well as health and wellness products. Tickets cost £12 in advance available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/391722 or pay at the door when tickets are £15. The organisers are donating £2 from every ticket to Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme.
