A MOTORIST who drove after drinking five pints of lager was told he was a “stupid idiot”, by magistrates.
Paul Dann, aged 21, was seen in the early hours of the morning driving at speed and swerving about the road.
The court heard that he was twice the drink-drive limit and told police “I have had five pints, I am stupid”.
Dann of Tudor Avenue, Farnworth, admitted driving with excess alcohol and was given an 18-month ban and was fined £150.
At the time he had just lost his job and split up with his girlfriend.
Passing sentence chairman of the bench at Manchester Magistrates Court, Michael Fry, said: “I am not going to disagree that you were an idiot except to say you were a very stupid idiot”.
Dann was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
