WHEN youngsters at St Peters CE Primary School raised nearly £200 for charity, it was the icing on the cake.
The school, in Alexandra Street, Farnworth, held a coffee morning and sold cakes to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The cakes were donated by parents of pupils and a football signed by former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton was a raffle prize.
The event, which was organised by members of the school council, raised £177.
Lynn Williams, headteacher said: “We are a Christian school and we promote Christian values, one of which is helping those who are less fortunate than others.
“We want the children to understand this and they will have learnt a lot from this event.”
The school will hold a red, white and blue day on Friday in support of the country’s armed forces.
