BOLTON Hospice has celebrated the opening of its 10th charity shop.

The new shop, located in Higher Market Street in Farnworth, was opened with a Champagne reception attended by guests and trustees of the hospice.

Alice Atkinson, Director of Income Generation and Communications, said: “We recently added four new inpatient bedrooms to the hospice to enable us to care for more local people with life-limiting illnesses who need our specialist care and support services.

"This means we need to raise more money to fund this additional care, and we have been rolling out a retail expansion plan over the past three years in order to do this.

"I thank the people of Farnworth for welcoming our new shop into the community and hope that it will raise much needed funds for the hospice over the coming years."

Income from the shop will go towards generating the £3.2 million shortfall in government funding the service needs to raise need every year.

Shops manager, Cathy Wright, said she was looking forward to being part of the Farnworth community and was already welcoming in new customers.

Volunteers are needed to help out in the shop, and anyone able to spare a minimum of three hours a week is asked to call Cathy on 01204 663066, or email shopsco-ordinator@boltonhospice.org.
