A WANDERERS legend kicked off the festive period in his hometown by doing the honours at its big switch-on.
Tommy Banks, part of the Whites’ 1958 FA Cup winning side, set Farnworth shining at the Christmas lights event in the town centre.
He was joined by Santa Claus and children’s entertainers Holly and Ivy.
About 900 people turned out for the festivities, including 400 children who all received selection boxes.
Farnworth ward councillor Jean Gillies said: “It gets bigger and bigger every year.”
