REAL-LIFE “water baby” Rosanna Ogden has been wowing yet more Olympic swimmers after becoming the youngest person to take part in a national swimming event.

The four-year-old managed to dive and swim in lanes during the Swim-Britain challenge in Stock-port on Saturday — despite being told she was too young by organisers.

Team GB athletes at the swim — including Olympic swimmer Keri-Anne Payne — watched in awe as little Rosanna kicked her way up and down the pool.

Mum Sally Ogden, who trains with Rosanna most days in Blackrod and Horwich, said: “People just could not believe it.

“We had to show the organisers Rosanna’s 400-metre badges to prove she could swim the length at first.

“As she was swimming, everyone was just gobsmacked because she’s so tiny.

“The team GB water polo team and Olympic swimmers all wanted photographs with her.

Sally added: “She’s never swum on her own in lanes like that before so it was a really big achievement for her.”

Rosanna amazed her parents when she was able to swim unaided at only two years old after recovering from a rare, non-cancerous heart tumour.

Not only has Rosanna, now aged four, conquered the impressive 400-metre distance, she has also become the poster girl for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and has raised more than £3,000 for the charity.

Now the youngster and her parents have set their sights on swimming 1,000 metres and are aiming to raise another £20,000 for the BHF.
