LEADERS of an Alzheimer's support group have thanked supporters for attending a festive fair.
More than 500 people took a trip to Trinity Methodist Church Hall in Tonge Fold on Saturday to enjoy a Christmas event, which raised more than £1,000 for Bolton Dementia Support Group.
About 30 volunteers rose early to set up a range of stalls and there was a Santa's grotto with enthusiastic elves helping out.
The charity, which is based in Thicketford Road, helps 300 people in Bolton by holding events such as memory cafes, evening meetings at a social club and outings to places such as Southport, Llandudno and the theatre.
Its chief officer, Barbara Clarke, said: "I would like to thank all our volunteers who made this day possible, but also our supporters who came to have fun and spend money.
"We depend entirely on grants, donations and fundraising and any fall in income would mean we would have to curtail the level of service we provide.
"This is one of our most important events of the year and I am delighted it went so well, with so many people, young and old, coming out for us."
