The awards were given out based on performance and GMW had an appropriate care score target of 50 per cent - but gained a score of 83.67 per cent for the year to date.

With regards to the first episode psychosis team, the appropriate care score target was 67.41 per cent and the score for the year to date was 97.66%.

The appropriate care score is a measure of how many of patients had all the reportable quality measures completed within the required timescales.

Elizabeth Kanwar, the Advancing Quality programme manager said: “Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust was awarded top performer awards for both mental health AQ clinical focus areas – dementia and early intervention psychosis.

"They have strived to deliver a high quality of care for their patient and clients over the past year and this has been rewarded in receiving the AQ mental health top performer awards”.

The Advancing Quality programme aims to raise the standards of care in common acute clinical conditions and diseases, including pneumonia, heart failure and heart bypass surgery, as well as mental health conditions, such as dementia and first episode psychosis.
