INSPECTIONS have been carried out at the Royal Bolton Hospital following the horrific Grenfell Tower Fire and on other buildings.

Fire and estate officers at the hospital carried out the inspections to ensure that it does not have the cladding similar to that involved in the Grenfell Tower Fire.

Inspections are also to take place on other health centre buildings including Bolton One.

Schools in the country are also being examined for the type of external cladding used.

A spokesman for the Royal Bolton Hospital, said: "Our trained fire officers and professional estates staff have carried out a very thorough review and nothing of undue concern was found.

"Two of our buildings do have a small amount of cladding, though it is not of the type used in Grenfell Tower.

"We’d like to assure patients and visitors that it is not considered to be an area of concern."

The maternity unit which is a 1974 build and has galvanised steel cladding and medical records has cladding too.

Risk assessments will also be carried out at Bolton One, which is fully clad, Breightmet Health Centre which is partially clad; Pikes Lane Health Centre which is partially clad; Crompton Health Centre which is partially clad and Waters Meeting Health Centre which is partially clad.

Nine hospital trusts in the country have been identified as using cladding that is similar to that involved in the Grenfell Tower fire.
