A BOLTON MP has urged more of her constituents to sign up to be stem cell donors.
Yasmin Qureshi wants more people in Bolton South East to join blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan’s register, particularly men aged 16 to 30 and people from black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds.
There are currently 501 people in the area who have registered with the charity, but that figure places Bolton South East 605th out of the 650 UK constituencies in the number of potential lifesavers.
Ms Qureshi said: “I am very proud that Bolton South East has 501 people who have selflessly volunteered to give someone a second chance at life. Donating stem cells is straightforward but it could make an enormous difference to someone with no other chance of a cure.
“I strongly hope that more people from Bolton will be inspired to sign up and show that together, our communities can provide a cure for blood cancer.”
