HEALTH bosses in Bolton will focus on the annual financial plan and £7.1 million of savings at this month’s board meeting.

Bolton Clinical Commission Group’s (CCG) board will consider its financial plan for 2018/19 among a number of other items up for discussion.

The financial plan for the coming year sets out how the CCG will spend its £460.4 million budget.

Based on forecasts for 2018/19 the CCG needs to make savings of £7.1 million.

The method of cuts is called ‘quality, innovation, productivity and prevention’ or QIPP.

Broad savings have been identified in transactional schemes and transformational schemes (£5.6 million) however, £1.5 million of savings still need to be identified by the CCG.

The board will also consider a report designed to make it easier for staff in the NHS and the local authority to move jobs and carry over accrued benefits from long service.

The board will also hear updates from CCG committees including the quality and safety committee and the conflicts of interest committee.

Each month the board hears a patient story designed to show how different services work together.

This month’s story concerns husband and wife who were both reaching the end of their lives and wished to spend their last moments together.

The agenda says: “The gentleman was continuously asking for his wife before she was fast tracked home. When she was discharged home, they were in hospital beds side by side in their lounge. The husband asked the nephew to sit him up so he could see his wife to check she was home.

“The nephew sat him up and he was able to look over at his wife, he gave a thumbs up and lay back down, had a tear and peacefully passed away, knowing his wife was by his side. His wife also peacefully passed away sixteen hours later.”

The board meeting is taking place on Friday ion the Bevan Room at St Peter’s House, Silverwell Street from 9.30am.
