THERE was an egg-citing treat for youngsters spending Easter in hospital as some of the brightest young Whites stars paid them a visit.

Bolton Wanderers' academy scholars visited the children's ward at Royal Bolton Hospital on Thursday to hand out Easter eggs to the youngsters in their care.

The eggs are donated by both the scholars themselves and the club's first team squad.

As the first team squad was preparing for Friday's match with Leeds, the scholars made sure the staff members and patients got their annual Easter gift from the club.

For many of the young players, it is their first chance to get involved in a community visit and see the benefits of football away from the pitch.

Easter is a busy time for the club with the season nearing its end, but the youth players were happy to take some time out and visit the hospital.

Luca Navarro, from Wanderers' under 18s team, said: "It was a great experience to come down to the hospital today and put some smiles on the kids' faces.

"With this being our first community visit with the club, we weren't too sure what to expect, but it was really enjoyable to be able to cheer them up at a difficult time for them and it is so important for us as players to give something back.

"We hope they all get well soon!"

Wanderers players carry out several visits throughout the year at the hospital to help put a smile on some faces.

At Christmas, players visited the hospital as well as Derian House Children's Hospice and Bolton Hospice to spread some goodwill.

Part of the BWFC's vision and values is to be an ambitious, progressive, diverse and welcoming club, proud to be part of the community and be part of it.

The hospital visits are part of this and it is also committed to supporting community organisations and events with players appearances.
