TWO sisters who battled cancer together will be walking in memory of a third sister who lost her life to the illness this year.

Maria and Carla Passarello are taking part in the Midnight Memories Walk for Bolton Hospice and will be remembering their sister Daniella Chesney and being thankful they survived.

Maria, events manager at Bolton Hospice, said: "My family have always supported our Midnight Memories Walk and Daniella led the walk on many occasions.

"She was proud to be a survivor for many years and dedicated to supporting me on this event."

Maria has been on the management team for Midnight Memories since it first started in 2007 and has only missed one year in 2012 whilst she was recovering from leukaemia.

She was diagnosed in 2011 with an aggressive form of acute leukaemia that only gave her a 30 per cent chance of survival.

With the help of her sister Angelina’s bone marrow she returned to work a year after her diagnosis.

Maria Passarello, events manager, of Bolton Hospice would like everyone living with a terminal or life-limiting illness to join her on the Midnight Memories Walk.

Thankfully with the help of her Maria’s sisters, Carla Passarello and Daniella Chesney both took part in the walk with Daniella on many occasions being a lead walker.

Daniella was proud to support the hospice and also ran the London Marathon for the hospice in 2005.

In 2016 she was going to run the London Marathon again, but due to her cancer treatment was unable to take part so gave her place to another supporter.

Sadly, Daniella lost her fight earlier this year, aged 48, after battling seven cancer diagnoses.

Maria Passarello, events manager, said: “My family have always supported our Midnight Memories Walk and Daniella led the walk on many occasions. She was proud to be a survivor for many years and dedicated to supporting me on this event.

"I am choosing to wear a yellow t-shirt at this event as I am beyond grateful to be a survivor and so thankful that I am able to be part of this walk.

"I will be walking in memory of Daniella, my sister-in-law and my brother-in-law who all had hospice care.

"They will all be with me, cheering me on my way, as a survivor living with this cruel disease.

"I would like to see everyone come together for this year’s walk, so please come forward and let’s step out for those we’ve lost and those living with cancer right now.”

The walk takes place on the night of Saturday, June 16 2018 and starts from The Market Place Shopping Centre. The walk is an 8 mile loop through Bolton returning back to the starting point. Everyone is welcome to join the walk. T-shirts are available in pink, blue and yellow.

ign up costs £20 and this includes your t-shirts and refreshments on the night. Sign your team up at boltonhospice.org.uk/mmw or call Bolton Hospice on 01204 663055.
