Stroke awareness roadshow could be a life saver

PEOPLE from Bolton are being urged to visit one of the stroke awareness roadshows taking place across Greater Manchester.

The events have been organised to highlight warning signs and symptoms in the run-up to National Stroke Awareness Day on May 12.

A Bolton health boss is urging people to go along to the nearest roadshows in Leigh and Salford.

Jan Hutchinson, director of public health at NHS Bolton, said “Strokes are an important contributor to premature deaths in Bolton but we can reduce the risks.

“Keeping an eye on your blood pressure is important and everyone over 45 should have theirs checked at least once a year.”

Greater Manchester Health Services is staging the Act FAST: Stroke Awareness Roadshows, in support a nationwide campaign.

There will be one at Salford Shopping City in Hankinson Way, Salford on Thursday and ASDA in Atherleigh Way, Leigh on May 12.

Health professionals will offer advice on reducing the risks of stroke and offer free blood pressure checks.

The roadshows are run in partnership with the Stroke Association and local Rotary Clubs.
