HEALTH chiefs in Bolton are urging people to read a Government leaflet about swine flu, which is being delivered to every household in the UK.
The national campaign aims to give people information on the condition and advice on how to prevent it spreading.
It comes as the number of confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus in the UK reached 27 yesterday.
Jan Hutchinson, director of public health at NHS Bolton, said: “We’d encourage people to look out for the leaflet arriving over the next few days, and read it when it comes.
“The leaflet asks people to identify ‘flu friends’ who they could help if they fall ill, so think about who you could contact and make sure you have their phone numbers.”
The primary care trust is also reiterating that people should “Catch It, Kill It, Bin It” if they sneeze or cough and wash their hands to prevent the spread of infections.
The national flu information line is 0800 1513513 and NHS Direct can be contacted on 0845 4647.
