Healthy advice for employers

BUSINESSES across Bolton are being encouraged to look after the health of their staff.

NHS Bolton is launching a new initiative — Clock On 2 Health — next week and companies are invited to attend the free opening event to find out more.

Deborah Collinson, workplace programme manager for NHS Bolton, said: “Many businesses are struggling at the moment which means their staff will be struggling.

“Their employees are a company’s biggest asset and there has never been a better time to invest in them. Better health means better business.”

Clock On 2 Health tackles areas including physical activity, stress and healthy eating, with initiatives like lunchtime walks, dance classes after work and sessions raising awareness of stress and how to deal with it.

The scheme has been piloted in Bolton over the last 18 months with organisations including the Royal Mail, Hitachi and the Department for Work and Pensions taking part.

They have reported benefits including reduced sickness absence rates, improved recruitment and retention rates and improved morale, which can all increase productivity.

Clock On 2 Health has been designed and will be delivered by NHS Bolton and is endorsed by Business Bolton.

Businesses of any size can get involved and a tailor-made package will be developed to tackle their health issues. The scheme is free and voluntary.

The launch event for Clock On 2 Health will take place at the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday, May 20, from 10am and 1pm.

Companies must register to secure a place by contacting Yvonne or Brenda on 01204 462171.
