BOLTON News reader Jack Sinclair has sent in our Looking Back photograph today.

Mr Sinclair of Rawson Road, Bolton was looking through some old photos when he came across this old football team photograph from October 1948.

He said: “I was the youngest member of the Standish XI team, aged 15 at the time. The team played in the Under-18s section of The Bolton Boy’s Federation. This was the first time that I had ever had to turn up for training in midweek to be considered for selection for the next game.

“Our “headquarters” were situated in Nicholson’s Snack Bar on Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge.

“I later went on to play for Dobson & Barlows, then Darcy Lever, in the first division of the Bolton Combination, before playing in the first division of the Lancashire Combination.

The players in the photograph were: Back row: Povey, Smalley, Sydall, Brooks, Williams and Fearnley. Front row: Denton, Robertson, Haslam, Goodram and Sinclair.
