Curtain falls at Lonsdale Road theatre

THE St Margaret’s Players brought down the curtain for the last time at their Lonsdale Road theatre. The Players had been staging plays in the St Margaret’s School hall since the 1920s, but in 1980 the building was put up for sale, because the running costs at St Margaret’s Church, Halliwell, were so high that a decision to sell one of the buildings had to be made.
