THE World Cup may be over but housing association staff at the Regenda Group are still celebrating.

Workers organised a World Cup draw and fundraising events to collect more than £600 for the UK-based charity Homeless International.

Staff in every department at the Regenda Group’s head office in Horwich and its sites across the North West, paid to support each of the 32 teams when the tournament started.

Employees decorated their desks and departments in the colours of their World Cup team and also displayed the traditions of the countries taking part.

Regenda’s communications department had drawn Germany and were delighted to stage an action replay of their winning team lifting the World Cup!

The group’s finance department was judged to have made the best team effort, sporting Holland shirts and decorating their desks as a tribute to the impressive performance of the Netherlands squad.

Presenting prizes to the winners, Regenda’s chief executive, Michael Birkett, said: “It was a really great team effort.

“The World Cup draw and fundraising events produced a friendly but competitive buzz around every single department on all three floors at head office.

"Staff at our offices right across the region also took part, knowing the money they were raising was for a worthy cause.”
