A BOLTON band is celebrating after its music video rocked the Houses of Parliament.

Two Weeks Running was awarded the Film The House Award of the Rock the House competition, a national music competition organised by the government in search of talented new artists.

The five-piece, who all come from Blackrod and Horwich, were winners for their song Holy Ghost, which was filmed in February this year.

They were invited to London to receive the award on the parliament terrace overlooking the Thames, and were given a guided tour of the House of Commons by Bolton West MP Julie Hilling. Guitar player Jon Wilkes, aged 25, said it was a fantastic day.

He added: “To be honest we applied earlier in the year and forgot all about it.

“When we got the phone call saying we won, we drove down to London and were invited to the House of Commons.

“We were really pleased to have won.”

The indie band, made up of Jon and Joe Martos on guitar, brothers Alex and Sam Goulding on bass and drums and singer Phil Alstead, are looking to release a new EP by the end of the year.

Ms Hilling said she was “extremely proud” of the lads, and congratulated them on their success.

She added: “Their music video was played to an influential audience of record labels, managers, agents, press and MPs.

“I hope this platform will prove to be an important step in their ambitions and that they will achieve great success in the music industry.”

“We have a wealth of talent across our community with good live bands and venues which encourage local groups.

“I am so happy we have found such great talent locally.”
