MEMBERS of the Inner Wheel Club of Horwich celebrated the organisation’s 60th birthday by holding a party at Rivington Hall Barn.

The diamond birthday party saw members of the Horwich club enjoy an afternoon of food and entertainment was provided by the Bolton Music Service.

As well as members of Horwich Inner Wheel, the party was attended by members from other clubs in the district as well as the district chairman, Gloria Shepherd.

The Inner Wheel Club of Horwich was founded 60 years ago when a group of ladies attended a meeting on February 23, 1954, at The Bridge Hotel in Horwich.

Founder Irene Bradshaw proposed that an Inner Wheel Club be formed.

Club secretary Sylvia Twist said: “I am sure all the founder members would have been pleased with the celebratory proceedings and I know that our own president Mrs Margaret Pyatt felt particularly proud on the day as her mother Mrs Marian Fairclough was one of those founder members.

“Without doubt the events of this anniversary celebration will provide us all with many happy memories in the months and years ahead and it is hoped that Horwich enjoys many more years of Inner Wheel.”
