RIVINGTON and Blackrod High School is committed to the development and wellbeing of its staff — and that’s official.

The school has been awarded the gold Investors in People award for the third time running.

The award is an internationally recognised standard measuring how well organisations support and develop the potential of their staff.

The school also gained the Investors in People Health and Wellbeing Award for the second time, showing their commitment to the wellbeing of all of their staff.

This is supported by the existence of a health and wellbeing committee.

The Horwich-based school has been involved in the Investors in People process for more than 10 years, using the themes in Investors in People extensively over that time to support the training and development programmes for staff.

A total of 192 out of the 196 statements required were met, which is an outstanding achievement, said Investors in People, as very few organisations in the UK have performed at this level.

Headteacher Tony Purcell said: “We are very proud to have achieved the gold award for Investors in People and also the Health and Wellbeing Award.

“Our staff are key to meeting the needs and aspirations of our students and this accolade affirms our commitment and continued quest to ensure the wellbeing and development of all.”
