THE MAYOR of Horwich was delighted to meet one of the town's most elderly residents during her 100th birthday party.
Cllr Richard Silvester was a surprise guest at the centenary celebration of Ivy Pilling which was held at Ridgmont House in Horwich, where family, friends and neighbours gathered to mark the occasion.
Relatives travelled from all parts of the UK to attend and Ivy enjoyed a luncheon and received gifts, cards and flowers.
Cllr Silvester said: "Ivy is a tremendous lady and couldn’t have had a better 100th birthday party.
"It was great to be there and I’m very pleased that she is held with such affection not only by the local community, but with friends and family from further afield. She is still doing her own shopping and is very sharp and I hope that I am in such good shape if I make it to 100"
