A GROUP of factory workers are celebrating after scooping more than £60,000 in the EuroMillions draw.

The syndicate of 18, who will each bank £3,340 after matching five main numbers, have been playing EuroMillions every week with the same numbers for the last eight years - and at last their luck is in after they were successful in the draw on January 6.

The workers, who are all employed by insulation business Web Dynamics in Moss Lane, Blackrod, say the news is still sinking in — even though some could not quite believe it at first.

Syndicate leader Bill Clarke, aged 65, said: “Most of us have been in the syndicate for eight years. We’ve won the odd £20 every now and again so a win of this size is great.

“I checked the numbers on Teletext on Wednesday morning and couldn’t believe my eyes.

"You just never think it will happen to you and I couldn't wait to get into work to tell the others.

“I told them all in the canteen as they came in and they all thought I was joking. Eventually they believed me and we were just all so excited and jumping up and down.

"It’s great to win as a group. We have had a great couple of days at work, so much excitement and a lovely start to the new year.”

The colleagues, many of whom have worked together for 13 years, plan to continue playing the lottery.

The syndicate’s winning numbers on Tuesday, January 6, were 14, 20, 30, 38 and 49.
