SHOPPERS in Horwich are set to be amongst the first to benefit from changes at Tesco.

Six national brands will soon be available at the Tesco Extra store at Middlebrook Leisure and Retail Park.

From this week the store will boast a Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Evans, Pavers, Claire’s Accessories and Sock Shop.

Store manager Lee Fetherston said: “We hope our customers enjoy their new shopping experience, as the changes made to our store had them in mind.

"We are very excited about the new enhancements made and look forward to our relaunch.”

As part of a special relaunch ceremony the store has invited the winner of a recent schools design a bag for life competition to come down to the store.

Matilda, aged eight, was the chosen winner from St Catherine’s CE Primary School.

As a result she won a £25 Tesco gift card for herself and a £500 donation for her school.

Her winning design will be also transferred on to 4,000 hessian bags and are available in store now.

Colleagues have also had the opportunity to nominate a worthy local charity as part of an internal competition.

Staff have been voting for their favourite local charity to receive a share in a £1,000 prize.

The chosen charity, Fortalice, helps woman and children who are affected by domestic abuse.

The organisation provides emergency accommodation and a range of support services to assist women, children and young people who have or are experiencing domestic abuse and to raise personal and public awareness of the issue relating to domestic abuse and its impact on society

The store is open Sunday midnight to Saturday midnight and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
