THE demolition and re-build of a primary school in Horwich was given the green light by town councillors.
Horwich Town Council recommended approval on an application to demolish Chorley New Road Primary School.
There are plans to replace the school with a two storey building, which will be used as a primary school and will be built on the existing playing field.
On site there will also be a car park, multi-use games area and hard and soft play areas, as well as landscaping.
If accepted by Bolton Council the rebuild is expected to be completed by the summer holidays of 2017.
The demolition of the existing school building will then take place during the summer term break. A final decision will be given by Bolton Council in the coming weeks.
