AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a spate of wheelie bin fires in Horwich.

Firefighters have reported seven incidents in the last three weeks in which bins have been set on fire in Queen Street.

Police are now investigating the blazes and residents have been warned to make sure they take their bins in to stop them being targeted.

A fire service spokesman said: "Seven times in the last few weeks, we have had a single bin set on fire in Queen Street. It usually happens between 2am and 5am.

"We have been out in the community giving out leaflets and we are advising people to bring their bins in because there is clearly someone going around doing this in the same spot."
