BEERS and bubbles are in full flow for the Horwich Beer Festival 2016.

The annual event is raising a glass or two to celebrate its 17th outing this year.

Organised by the Horwich Rotary Club, beer, cider and fizz fans are invited to take a gulp or two of their favourite tipple while helping to raise funds for the club's chosen charities.

Alongside live entertainment there is a choice of 35 cask ales, four different ciders, two lagers, soft drinks and, new for this year, a Prosecco bar.

Festival chairman, John Green said: "We have built it up over the years and expanded, we get a good response from the local community.

"Like the Prosecco bar, we have evolved the festival over the years for everyone who likes the idea of the festival so they can come along, enjoy the atmosphere and raise money for charity."

Following an opening night on Thursday, it continues today from noon to 11.45am at the R.M.I club in Ramsbottom Road with a £5 entry, including a free glass.
