THE Body of a man was discovered at a property after emergeny services cordoned off a street to deal with a 'hazardous substance' incident.

Emergency services were called to Lindsay Street, Horwich and taped off the residential road on Monday afternoon, May 8.

A fire service spokesman confirmed that officers specially trained to deal with chemical incidents attended the scene.

The officers evaluated one house in the street and ventilated the property, before handing the incident over to Greater Manchester Police.

A police spokesman confirmed that they were called to the scene shortly before 3pm. A police car remained in the area at 7pm.

This morning, May 9, a police spokesman confirmed that the body of a man was found inside the property.

The spokesman said: "Shortly before 3pm on Monday, May 8, emergency services were called to a concern for welfare for a man at a property on Lindsay Street in Horwich.

"The body of a man was found inside.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
