DEVELOPERS could be forced to tear down an unauthorised five-home build.

Workmen are currently constructing five homes at Grundy Fold Farm in Chorley Old Road, Horwich.

This has taken place without planning permission as the homes are in a different size, design and location to the approval that was granted in 2014.

A retrospective application has been submitted by Neil Pike Architects, which is due to go before Bolton Council’s planning committee today at 2pm.

And the council's planning office has recommended that members refuse the application, meaning that builders could be ordered to demolish the homes if councillors agree.

Outraged neighbours slam developer for building 'unauthorised' houses in Horwich

The report said: “The development that has taken place on site does not accord with the scheme that was approved; it has instead resulted in the erection of five dwellings all of a different siting/orientation, footprint and design to those dwellings approved in 2014 including the demolition of the former farmhouse that was to be converted.

“The sizes of the dwellings at plots one to four have also been increased. Changes to the approved garages have also been carried out in that each dwelling now has a detached garage, compared to the original permission which included some shared garage space in the centre of the site.”
