A STORMTROOPER and Spiderman were in town as a travel agency raised £850 from a charity cycling event.

Staff at Hays Travel in Horwich cycled on a stationary bike from 10am until 4pm after the town mayor Cllr Steve Rock fired the starting pistol.

Children took advantage of the face painting inside the office in Winter Hey Lane as well as pictures with the characters.

The money will go towards buying laptops, a printer and stationary for the Horwich Hub, which runs a homework club for children who do not have access to computers or a quiet area at home to do their work.

Emma Unsworth, manager at Hays Travel, said: "We would also like to thank all the local businesses in Horwich who donated raffle prizes and the people of Horwich who came on the day to support us."

Balloons were donated by Celebration Balloons, the t-shirts by Express Banners and cakes by 2 Chefs Passion.
